Solving for Wavelength
Solving for Frequency

btw, we dont have to worry about
converting for this unit. Ill give you meters.
No nanometers.

(btw, slight error in the math... i forgot the
negative sign by the 7)

Worksheet
1)To put your calculator in scientific notation mode click “2nd” then “DRG” Select “Sci” and hit “enter.” To put it back, select “FLO”
2) Put all answers in scientific notation for 6-34. Round all answers to two decimal places. (3.34583 x 1014 = 3.35 x 1014)
3) Show ALL work for each problem, and every number gets a unit.

Use the equation c=λf.
Calculate the following questions. If given wavelength, solve for frequency and visa versa.
Make sure all calculations for λ are done in m.
Don’t get confused by the units of frequency. You will see them as Hz, 1/s or s-1. C=3 x 108 m/s.

1) λ = 2.4 x 10-8 m
2) f=1.5 x 1015 Hz (remember that Hz means the same as 1/s)
3) λ= 5x10-9 m
4) f=3.23 x 108 1/s
5) λ= 6x10-9 m
6) f= 5.8 x 1014 1/s
7) λ = 4x10-8 m
8) f=4.5 x 1018 Hz
9) λ= 5x10-8m
10) f=4.33 x 1019 1/s
11) λ= 4.3x10-13 m
12) f= 4.2 x 1019 Hz
13) λ = 5 x 10-8 m
14) f=1.8 x 105 Hz
15) λ= 3.6 x10-7 m
